During the COVID-19 pandemic, Albania implemented targeted actions to support women and girls experiencing gender-based violence (GBV). In 2020, a nationwide SMS campaign was launched through the “Gender Laboratory”, reaching up to 40,000 people by January 2021 with information about available services for victims of violence. Additionally, 310 students (86 boys, 228 girls) were informed about GBV in 12 information sessions. Special focus was placed on university students, particularly those from rural areas, with 60 students (49 girls, 11 boys) educated about digital violence. These students then organized awareness-raising meetings in local high schools, reaching 254 young people (179 girls, 75 boys) in seven high schools in the Elbasan Municipality and district. As part of the campaign, approximately 350 posters were displayed in public spaces, municipal offices, and information stands across seven municipalities in the district, informing about services for victims during the pandemic. This initiative directly impacted about 6,000 people.
